Historically, the term "plank owner" referred to crew members that were present when a ship was being built or first commissioned.  This crew had the unique honor of helping a ship start her service well.

• Plank owner does not grant ownership, employment, directorship, board membership or other direct control of Beacon Medical Center
• Recognition on display at location and on website is expected to be long-term, but length of time is not guaranteed
